New York City , also lovingly called “the Big Apple”, is situated on the Eastern Atlantic Coast at the mouth of Hudson River. New York City is made of five counties-- western side has Brooklyn (Kings Co.), Queens, Staten Island and Manhattan, and towards the north is The Bronx, which is attached to the New York State mainland.
